The photo below is the Ninth Street Bridge, or more properly, the Rachel Carson Bridge in Pittsburgh, named for the naturalist Rachel Carson. I always called it The Bird Bridge because as you can see, the birds would all congregate there until the bridge looked more black than yellow. Do you think they knew it was named for a woman who loved them? A woman who worried about the effects of DDT on their habitat and their eggs?
You do have to ask yourself sometimes...
